The Trump Administration’s Remain in Mexico policy has trapped asylum seekers in dangerous border towns in Mexico, where they are forced to navigate a complex asylum process without access to counsel or other safeguards guaranteed by our immigration laws. With hearings for those in Remain in Mexico indefinitely suspended, people are stuck in limbo with nowhere to go and their lives at constant risk. This suit is filed on behalf of eight individuals subjected to the Remain in Mexico policy, Jewish Family Service of San Diego, and Immigrant Defenders Law Center. NIPNLG, the Southern Poverty Law Center, Innovation Law Lab, and Arnold & Porter Kaye Scholer LLP filed the class action lawsuit in the United States District Court for the Central District of California.
